Organizational Setting:  The FAO Representation in Egypt supports the Government of Egypt in developing policies and more specifically under this project and are aiming to reduce the impact of COVID-19 across the food supply chains: (i) protecting the most vulnerable groups, addressing inequality and rural poverty in the context of COVID-19; (ii) building resilient and sustainable food systems and food supply chains; (iii) continue supporting governmental programmes to stimulate the economy and supporting local enterprises, to protect workers and farmers and supporting their incomes; and (iv) ensure the functioning of agricultural value chains, given their importance and critical role in food access and food availability. Ultimately, there is a need to improve the enabling policy environment to ensure stable, sufficient, safe and nutritious food for all, particularly the most vulnerable groups.
The tasks envisaged for this consultancy will contribute to reduced poverty, improved food security and nutrition and resilient livelihoods for vulnerable rural women and youth and build back a more sustainable food system in Minya Governorate – to ensure that no one relying on agricultural production for their wellbeing is left behind (especially those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic). This contribution will be achieved through the support of participatory, integrated and community-based approaches to sustainable smallholder agricultural development, agricultural climate change adaptation and agri-food systems.  
The position is located in the FAO Office in Cairo, Egypt.
Reporting Lines:  Under the overall supervision of the FAO representative and Assistant FAO Representative, the direct supervision of the Project Senior Advisor, the expert will work in close collaboration with all partners (government, local authorities, NGOs, private sector, and others) and the technical team of the project, and the team of  FAO Office in Egypt.

Technical Focus:The Agribusiness Specialist will provide assistance in field coordination of Farm Business Schools (FBS) and small agro-food processing enterprises, under the project OSRO/EGY/102/CAN “Improved Livelihoods, Nutrition and Empowerment of Rural Women and their Families affected by the COVID-19 crisis in Minya Governorate”. The incumbent will ensure that activities will focus on women beneficiaries, to promote their empowerment and creation of economic opportunities.

Tasks and responsibilities:
The Agribusiness Specialist – local coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks:  •    Coordinate with experts to review the curricula of the FBS and ensure that the technical information is compliant with quality standards and is presented with a simple and understandable language and illustrations.
•    Identify facilitators, assess their training needs, and ensure knowledge and skills gaps are filled through ToT. Ensure that the majority of facilitators are female and that training on gender-sensitive issues is provided.•    Follow-up with the facilitators’ team to ensure application of FAO methodology to FBS, formulation and accomplishment of training plans, identification of training venues, timely conduction of FBS trainings.•    In collaboration with local NGOs and rural leaders, supervise establishment of FBS at targeted villages, with majority of female beneficiaries.•    In collaboration with facilitators, prepare training reports and submit to Project Senior Advisor.•    In collaboration with M&E specialist, ensure that all facilitators provide the weekly workplan with accurate information about field implementation activities.•    Create link between beneficiaries and service providers (e.g. input providers, traders, market buyers, financial institutions).•    Provide technical assistance to facilitators and beneficiaries for formulation of business plans and feasibility studies.•    Organize exchange visits to showcase good examples of business opportunities (e.g. agri-food companies, postharvest/value addition facilities, modern market outlets, etc.).•    Provide visual and written materials needed for visibility and documentation of success stories and project expected results.•    Organize all events at field level and field missions of FAO and donor officials, as requested.•    Any other duties related to the incumbent’s field of experience, as required
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements    •    An advanced university degree in Agriculture or related field .
•    At least 7. years of relevant professional experience.•    Working knowledge in the English and Arabic languages.•    National of Egypt.
