Summary:The work schedule for this position is: Full Time 40 hours per week.
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time ( 4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or his/her candidacy may end.

DutiesProvides oral and written Hausa-French-English interpretation and translation services on behalf of Front Office principles or other sections as approved by the Front Office or direct supervisor.  Provides basic protocol services, including preparing official correspondences, researching and drafting background materials, and managing Embassy contact information.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in Hausa/Zarma, English, and French translation and interpretation services in an international institution or any organization that executes international programs/policy (e.g. NGO or Embassy, media, etc.).
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have a good knowledge of translation concepts used in rendering accurate and clear translations that capture the meaning and intent of an original document.  Must have a good understanding of U.S. foreign policy and development objectives.  Must be able to perform technical research related to diplomatic subjects (political, economic, military, etc.) for purposes of translation to/from English, French and Hausa.  Must have knowledge of government, diplomatic and/or international organizations, and civil society structure. Must have knowledge of host country protocol, local customs, and practices.
Education Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in English, Modern Languages, Political Science, International Relations, or bilingual studies is required.
Evaluations:LANGUAGE:  Mandatory: 
Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing English is required. This may be tested.
Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing French is required.
Level III (good working knowledge) speaking/reading of at least one local language is required. These may be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES Optional: Computer skills must include Microsoft Office Suite (to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint), Internet expertise for research purposes, database management experience, and the production of documents and reports. Adaptability, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple translation tasks accurately and expeditiously is essential.  Must have excellent writing and interpersonal skills and also Hausa and Zarma These may be tested.

Benefits:Agency Benefits:Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Niamey, Niger may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
