Summary:
The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week).
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties
Incumbent prepares outgoing pouches.  Processes Diplomatic pouch related documents for pouch retrieval through local customs. Keeps and maintains accurate records of Express Mail, DHL and faxes sent and received for tracking and billing purposes.  Operates electronic reproduction equipment.  Operates Fax machine.  Sorts incoming mail, re-addresses and forwards first-class mail.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:  Minimum one year of mailroom work experience or equivalent experience in a large company, an international organization or in a U.S. Agency is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must have a thorough knowledge of Department of State and/or associated agency pouch and mail handling instructions.  Must have a good working knowledge of the organization, functions, personnel and practices of agencies serviced.
Education Requirements:
Completion of Secondary School or equivalent is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:  English: (Good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing is required. This may be tested.
                     French: (Fluency) speaking/reading/writing is required. This may be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to operate electronic photocopying equipment and electromechanical reproduction machines is required.  Basic typing ability is required for computer and fax operations.  Basic switchboard comprehension of written and oral instructions are also required. Must have a valid driver’s license (all categories) and must pass the driving test during the hiring process. Must be able to perform moderately heavy work including lifting moderately heavy loads.

 Agency Benefits:
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Embassy in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

* IMPORTANT:  Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), equivalent documentation, or certification.  A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.  Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
