Chemonics seeks a chief of party for an anticipated USAID-funded Women’s Empowerment project in Egypt. The project aims to support gender equality and female empowerment through advancing the enabling environment for women, including strengthened legal, economic, and social enabling environments. The project also seeks to increase economic opportunity at the individual, household, and community levels and to strengthen and facilitate greater access to improved protection services. This full-time position is based in Cairo, Egypt. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
Provide overall project leadership, management, and technical direction
Supervise technical and administrative staff
Serve as the primary liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and international and local partners
Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
Direct implementation of the project’s strategic long-term vision
Oversee work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
Ensure high-quality and timely program deliverables
Qualifications:
Advanced degree in management, international development, or a related field
Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in development, with seven years in a developing country, including Egypt, is preferred
Minimum five years of experience as chief of party, managing complex activities involving coordination with multiple project stakeholders across a range of implementation areas
Demonstrated experience implementing programs that empower women and enhance the enabling environment to increase their economic opportunities and participation in the private and public labor force
Expertise working with key stakeholders in government and non-government institutions as well as the private sector to advance legal, economic, and social reform to improve enabling environments to empower women
Demonstrated experience in strengthening referral mechanisms with associated service provisions for gender-based violence victims and survivors at the national and local levels
High level of interpersonal, technical, and analytical skills, including an ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of public sector counterparts, donors, and other stakeholders
Exceptional leadership in designing, managing, implementing, and monitoring and evaluating similar donor-supported projects, with skills in strategic planning, management, supervision, and budgeting
Proven ability to develop and communicate a common vision among diverse partners and lead multidisciplinary teams
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Fluency in English required; fluency in Arabic is highly preferred
