The Government of the People’s Republic of China invites students from African countries to apply for scholarships. The scholarships are for studies leading to the completion of master’s and PhD degrees in universities of the People’s Republic of China.

The African Union Commission is the executive / administrative branch or secretariat of the AU (and is somewhat similar to the European Commission). It consists of a number of commissioners dealing with different policy areas. The Commission is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It should be distinguished from the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (based in Banjul, The Gambia), which is a separate organ of the African Union.

The scholarships are open to all qualified African nationals who meet the admission requirements set out below. The language of instruction will be in English.

Candidates with the potential, motivation and desire to play a transformative leadership role in Africa are particularly encouraged to apply. Admission Requirements Applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Undergraduate degree from a recognized university, with at least one senior second-class division or equivalent, in a relevant field. For doctoral candidates (a master’s degree in a relevant field is required)
2. Maximum age of 35 years

The deadline for submission of applications with all supporting documents is 29 June 2018. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

Applications must be submitted with a motivation letter stating the motivation to apply and how qualifying will enable you to serve the continent.

Applications must also be accompanied by the following:

1) Curriculum Vitae, including education, work experience and publications as appropriate;

2) Certified copies of certificates, transcripts and relevant personal data of the national passport (valid for at least six months) 3) Clear passport size photo (3 * 4)

4) Recommendations of two academic referees

5) Health certificate.
