Description | Under the Director Readiness, you will assist the agency in meeting its global Readiness targets to ensure the agency is optimally positioned to respond to diverse and large events. You will enable and deliver optimal emergency response to crises around the world that you are assigned to in a timely manner and for a broad spectrum of stakeholders involved in ACF activities.
More precisely :
Do you fit with the position? You have an advanced degree in international humanitarian or development affairs, or other compatible degree. At least 3 years experience in humanitarian action in developing and least developed countries preferably with experience in conflict countries; including experience as an operational manager (Field Co, CD, Head of Base, or the like) and with very good working knowledge of operations support functions that can be developed to a higher level of capacity. You will also have some experience in security management or sensitivity that can be enhanced. You are able to travel with little notice; are flexible, professional, autonomous, durable, comfortable filling different roles as needed by the situation, diplomatic and a good negotiator, and practice good communication. You can write clearly and concisely and deliver completed works of a wide variety, such as proposals, reports, white papers, orientation products, desk reviews, ToR’s, analytical papers, and the like. You are adept in Word, Excel and Power point and can speak and write fluently in English, and preferably in French. Other languages such as Arabic, Spanish and more, are a plus.
The emergency coordinator is based from their home and travels +/- 70% of the calendar year and often with little notice. You will deploy to very diverse least developed and conflict countries. You will occasionally be required in Paris or other locations for meetings, conferences and the like. The work is intense and can be at high speed, but is also exciting and rewarding when done well. You are part of a global team based around the world and connected-up by our shared commitment to providing optimal service to country offices and those impacted by disaster. |
