Youth Investment Fund Grant Programme – United Kingdom

Applications are now open for the Youth Investment Fund to create, expand, and improve local youth facilities and their services in the out of school youth sector, to drive positive outcomes for young people, including improved mental and physical wellbeing, and skills for life and work.

The Youth Investment Fund is funded by the UK Government and being delivered by Social Investment Business, in partnership with the National Youth Agency (NYA), Key Fund and Resonance.

It aims to transform and level up the out-of-school youth sector.

This investment will support the out of school youth sector, providing up to 300 youth facilities – which could include community youth spaces, youth centres of different sizes, and activity centres – in some of the less advantaged areas of England. The Youth Investment Fund will increase the number of new young people engaging in regular positive activities in the targeted areas by 45,000 per year, by 2026/27.

They aim to deliver over £300 million worth of grants to the out of school youth sector for up to 300 facilities in selected eligible areas across England by 2025. Each will represent positive value for money, are environmentally sustainable and enable positive activities for young people aged 11–18 (up to 25 for young people with SEND).

  • The Youth Investment Fund aims to:
    • Improve the health and wellbeing of young people.
    • Equip young people with skills for work and life.
    • Empower young people to be active members of their community and society.
    • Level up provision in selected eligible areas of England.
Funding Information
  • There are two streams of Youth Investment Fund Grants:
    • For capital grants under £150K you can apply for a Youth Investment Fund Refurbishment Grant.
    • For capital grants over £150K, you must apply for Youth Investment Fund programme.
Eligibility Criteria
  • The Youth Investment Fund welcome expressions of interest for projects at any scale or stage of development from applicants who can demonstrate the following:
    • The lead organisation and grant holder must be one of the following legal structures:
      • A local authority, including parish and town councils
      • A registered charity
      • An exempt charity
      • Uniformed organisations (such as scouts and girlguides)
      • Either form of Community Interest Company (Company limited by Guarantee & Company Limited by Shares)
      • Company limited Guarantee with a social mission (dependent on further assessment)
  • All organisations must be registered with the appropriate regulator (such as Companies House or the Charity Commission).
  • Schools, colleges or multi academy trusts are not eligible for this fund. There is no minimum number of years for an organisation to be established to apply for this fund.
