WFP Ethiopia is working with the government and other humanitarian partners to strengthen the resilience of Ethiopia’s most vulnerable population and to chart a more prosperous and sustainable future for the next generation. The Country Office also supports programmes that use food assistance to empower women, transform areas affected by climate change and keep children in school. It aims to contribute to Ethiopia’s five-year development agenda, the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), through which the Government combats food insecurity.
BACKGROUND:
To support its Communication Strategy, WFP Ethiopia seeks the support of a specialist to support building digital marketing and communications materials to communicate and promote its mission in the country among targeted audiences.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
This position is located in WFP Ethiopia country office based in Addis Ababa. The job holder report to Head of Communications or the designate.
JOB PURPOSE
To implement the communications plan by supporting and delivering a range of communications activities, providing research and analysis, and prioritising effectively.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Communications, the Digital Media Specialist will perform the following tasks:
1. Define an appropriate Twitter strategy for WFP Ethiopia inline with the existing communication strategy.
2. Manage the WFP Ethiopia Twitter account, including scheduling and posting.
3. Contribute to the production of high-quality digital communication materials that support the communication strategy.
4. Create regular Twitter analytics reports and incorporate feedback into the schedule.
5. Develop and maintain a website on Transformative Food Assistance, ensuring it clearly and accurately portrays the vision of WFP and the Government of Ethiopia.
6. Develop a branding package and guidance to accompany the Transformative Food Assistance communication strategy.
7. Develop a digital marketing strategy to embed within the Transformative Food Assistance communication strategy.
8. Support the communications unit with digital content collection from the field.
9. Systematically update WFP’s global social media database and donor visibility database.
10. Perform other related activities as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of secondary school education or post-secondary certificate in a related area. University degree in Communications, Marketing, Sales or other relevant field with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses is desirable.
Experience: At least five (5) years or more progressively responsible experience in online communications and marketing. Proven experience in developing websites and managing social media accounts is a must.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of the local language is added advantage.

Oversees implementation, providing recommendations for improvement.
