STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
Language: National  Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, if different. Knowledge of Hausa is an advantage.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The Logistics Sector in Nigeria operates under the global strategic goals of the Global Logistics Cluster (GLC) to facilitate the provisions of common service to humanitarian partners wherever gaps are identified. The Logistics Sector in Nigeria operates out of Maiduguri, facilitating common storage, information services, and cargo movement to the conflict affected areas.  The technical oversight of the operation is under the Sector Coordinator, who reports to the Head of Area Office.
JOB PURPOSE
To facilitate the management of Logistics Sector/Cluster common service provision through; managing daily operations, collect, analyse and report on information, and cooperating with implementing partners to maximise efficiency of the logistics operations and activities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
1. Contribute towards the development of logistics plans and processes ensuring compliance with requirements of the Global Logistics Cluster, and wider logistics policies and WFP standards.
2. Support Logistics Sector/Cluster projects or operational day-to-day activities following standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective delivery of services to beneficiaries.
3. Collect and analyse data through research and networking with colleagues to recommend actions to the supervisor to improve performance of local logistics operations.
4. Manage cooperating partners contracting activities including performance monitoring and measurement.
5. Monitor inventory management processes to track trends and account for the inventory status.
6. Conduct portions of financial analysis and budget reviews, drawing out insights and recommending actions to the supervisor to optimize use of available funds.
7. Guide support staff as well as cooperating partners, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with analysis and queries.
8. Collate data and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely reporting, supporting a Logistics Sector/Cluster view of logistics activities that enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
9. Utilize and review Logistics Sector/Cluster Relief Item Tracking Application (RITA) system, and ensure that entries are accurate and up to date. Focal point for receiving and releasing requests from partners.
10. Support the capacity building of Logistics Sector/Cluster staff, WFP staff, and cooperating partners for efficient and effective delivery of services to the humanitarian community and ultimately meeting the needs of the beneficiaries (i.e. through contribution to the training materials).
11. Identify and build productive relationships with logistics colleagues, staff and partners within the area of assignment to support an integrated approach to Logistics assistance.
12. Support logistics emergency preparedness and response activities including Logistics Capacity Assessment and Contingency Plan update, to support WFP’s response in emergencies.
13. Other as required.
