Welthungerhilfe recruits 01 Head of Project Triple Nexus*

The position is to be filled as of Oktober 1, 2022, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Mahagi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, with frequent travel to project locations.

As Expert Triple Nexus you will foster the Triple Nexus approach in the context of the implementation of two combined pojects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC):

  1. Nexus project: Emergency Aid to support the conflict-affected populations in Ituri province (funded by the German Federal Foreign Office).
  2. Improving socio-economic conditions and strengthening the resilience of conflict-affected households in the Mahagi and Djugu territories in Ituri Province (funded by BMZ).

You will manage and implement programmes and projects on the basis of specified directives in terms of content, schedule, budget and execute them according to the standards of Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and the guidelines/provisions of the co-financier.

Your responsibilities

  • Capacity building of the project team and the wider WHH DRC country team regarding the concept of triple nexus and the topics of peace building and conflict resolution
  • Carry out the project(s) in close cooperation with the respective local heads of project according to the rules and standards of the co-financing donors and Welthungerhilfe
  • Ensure that all project relevant support is in place (monitoring, logistics, finance administration, etc.)
  • Develop needs based & impact oriented project planning in the context of the ongoing project(s) in line with WHH and DRC country strategy
  • Support the identification of co-financing opportunities to be pursued and ensure the timely development of successful project proposals in line with the relevant donor regulations and strategies
  • Report to the Country Director on the progress of the project(s) and all risks associated with the project work
  • Manage staff in cooperation with the local heads of project according to WHH leadership principles, staff policies and WHH strategy
  • Ensure the implementation of WHH policies and their adaption to local conditions
  • Monitor the establishment and adherence to the projects’ security management system managed by the local heads of project in accordance to the global security policy/guidelines of Welthungerhilfe
  • Establish good working relationships with donors and other stakeholders in-country for emergency, rehabilitation and development programmes in coordination with the Country Office
  • Represent WHH in country vis-à-vis selected relevant national and international stakeholders and partners in coordination with country office and th local heads of project

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree in agriculture, engineering or comparable qualification in a relevant subject area
  • A minimum of 3 years of project management experience in carrying out projects in both humanitarian and development aid
  • Profound knowledge on the implementation of the Triple Nexus approach as well as on peace building and conflict resolution approaches
  • A high level of resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe’s project countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English and French language skills
