Head of Project – Agricultural/Agribusiness development*
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Torit, South Sudan.
Welthungerhilfe’s Programme in South Sudan aims to improve the food and nutrition security of its vulnerable population, mainly smallholder farmers and internally displaced population, by supporting these target groups in re-building their livelihoods and strengthening their resilience. As Head of Project Agricultural/Agribusiness development, you will manage and implement a project based on the specified directives in terms of content, schedule and budget. You will be responsible for its coordination, planning and operative implementation while ensuring an appropriate use of funds as well as a correctly and duly reporting to Welthungerhilfe’s Country Office and donors.
Your responsibilitiesEnsuring that all project relevant support (monitoring, logistics, finance administration, etc.) is in placeCarrying out the project planning, implementation, monitoring and the project’s financial controlReporting to the Country Director/Area Manager/Programme coordinator on the progress of the project(s)Recruiting and managing staff according to Welthungerhilfe’s policiesEnsuring the implementation of Welthungerhilfe’s HR policies and their adaptation to local conditionsContributing to the development of country policies and strategiesMaking project purchases according to internal procurement guidelinesMonitoring of logistical procedures, including warehouse management, inventory control and distribution reportsRepresenting Welthungerhilfe in relevant fora/clusters at state and national levels and within the humanitarian community
Your profileA university or polytechnic degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Development or equivalent qualifications that are commensurate with this positionA minimum of 7 years of project and management experience in carrying out emergency/transitional measures with international aid agenciesRegional working experience in South Sudan would be an assetBMZ donor experience would be a great advantageAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Word, Excel and PowerPointCoordination and organisational skills – even under a high workloadA high level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditionsExcellent spoken and written English, German language skills would be an asset
