Expert Organisational Development*
in Ngozi
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Ngozi, Burundi.
As Expert Organisational Development you will advise national and local partner organizations on the implementation of projects financed by Welthungerhilfe in terms of content, schedule and budget in accordance with the specified guidelines in order to help them achieve their project objectives. Moreover, you will be expected to professionally support projects and programme teams in the implementation of Welthungerhilfe’s partner approach and to lead the elaboration of a context specific partner strategy while promoting and maintaining standardized partnership principles.
Your responsibilities
• Verification and assessment of project applications and ideas on relevance, completeness and coherence with the government and donor strategies
• Within the framework of partner promotion, implementation of the strategy in accordance with the global strategy of Welthungerhilfe and the multi-annual country strategy
• Ensuring the necessary flow of information and transparency of projects results vis-à-vis the general public in the assigned country in close coordination with the Head of Programmes
• Advising and assisting partners in preparing reports for the government, donors and other relevant stakeholders
• Proactively develop and implement training manuals, courses and workshops to increase knowledge and assist partners in defining training requirements for national experts
• Supporting project teams in project-related activities
• Providing technical expertise and guidance to partners and relevant Welthungerhilfe staff in order to coordinate and implement planned activities properly
• Executing regular field visits to the project sites to verify the implementation of activities by partners
• Conduct an organizational development analysis of local partners in areas including needs analysis, project cycle management, financial management, HR, logistics and reporting
• Support partners in applying a gender lens to project activities and ensure compliance with best practices for participatory and equitable development
• Support partners to manage the budget and provide oversight of partner budget management and spending, ensuring full compliance with Welthungerhilfe and donor requirement
Your profile
• A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant discipline such as social science, development cooperation, business and management, education or qualifications that are commensurate with this position
• A minimum of 5 years professional experience working in the global south
• Extensive experience supporting Organizational Development of local organizations (NGOs, CBOs, CSOs, etc), preferably working with an International NGO
• Sound experience in Natural Resource Management, Food and Nutrition Security projects
• Experience working in remote areas and complex socio-cultural contexts
• Strong communication and leadership skills with high level of emotional intelligence
• Good knowledge of budgets and financial management
• Ability to work diplomatically and tactfully with local partners and government
• Sound understanding of compliance with requirements related to working in post-conflict contexts
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural team with a high level of tolerance
• Excellent spoken and written French; English and/or German language skills would be an asset
