Emergency Programme Coordinator (m/f)
in Juba
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. The place of work will be Juba, South Sudan. Taking the security situation into account, travel for work will be required.
As Emergency Programme Coordinator you will be responsible for the overall coordination and management of current and future Emergency Projects in South Sudan and will directly work with the Country Director. You will lead and manage the operational aspects of the programme and will supervise, train and support project staff in implementing emergency project activities. Furthermore, you will be responsible for overseeing all the WFP-funded projects and liaising with the WFP at all stages of implementation.
Your responsibilities
• Further develop strategy and direction for Emergency programming in South Sudan
• Explore possibilities of new emergency projects in South Sudan, and coordinate related need assessment exercises
• Lead the process of developing proposals and budgets together with Programme and Finance Departments
• Ensure effective management and implementation of emergency projects and administration of project finances
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with local authorities and in-country donor representatives
• Participation in National and State level clusters and coordination with relevant humanitarian agencies/partners
• Coordinate effective implementation of security SOPs, as well as the emergency preparedness plan and Safety and Security guidelines
• Ensure regular reporting internally and to donors
Your profile
• A University degree in Disaster Management, International Development, Community Development or a related field
• More than 5 years relevant work experience in management and implementation of complex emergency operations
• Experience in managing all implementation stages of large-scale WFP-funded projects
• Experience in grant acquisition, project design, and writing high quality proposals as well as donor reports
• Experience in Financial and/or Human Resource Management is desired
• Very good analytical skills for evaluating the humanitarian and security-related situation
• A high level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions
• Fluency in English, Arabic language skills are an asset
