Operations Manager

Wärtsilä West Africa have an existing O&M Contract with SENELEC. BEL AIR power in Senegal and we are happy to have onboard an Operations Manager report

The Successful candidate will report to the Plant Manager and accountable of managing assigned operational responsibilities in accordance with Wärtsilä Services guidelines, Agreement Management process and general management practices in a safe and cost-effective way in order to exceed the customer expectations.

What will you be doing

  • Implementing preventive and corrective action as necessary.
  • Responsible for all activities relating to the daily operations management of the power plant inclusive of planning and implementation of plant operations
  • To communicate effectively with the plant team relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance and to provide suggestions for improvements
  • Administration and training of skilled and motivated operations personnel to assure good teamwork. Setting and maintaining the qualification and training standard for the plant operations personnel
  • Responsible for implementation of plant safety policy and OpExS program according to the assigned plan.
  • Establish and implement standard operations policies and procedures in accordance with the Agreement Management Process
  • Prepare reports, plans and budgets as instructed by the Plant Manager
  • To identify and actively seek to improve operational reliability and availability
  • Building a competitive and motivated team of operations personnel
  • Develop the operations working routines at the plant
  • To approve time sheet for subordinates
  • To approve the planning of maintenance program in line with the operational compromises.
  • Development and improvement of the Plan of Operation and all resources to its right implementation and administration.
  • To negotiate and purchase material or services related to Operations functions.

You will shine in this role, when you have

  • B.Sc., Diploma or M.Sc in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent educational background.
  • Several years of relevant industrial experience highly recommended, 10 years of Minimum O&M experience Power Plant.
  • Previous experience in 50DF or gas engines will be considered as an added advantage.
  • An Advance level of English language and knowledge of French or local language is a plus.
  • We are seeking for an expert professional with strong problem solving and decision-making skill.
  • Perform all activities needed to reach the objectives of the position and comply with the orders, instructions, values, and company policies applicable as employee and/or the position.
  • Advance level of Contract management and resource planning.
  • Continuously seek for solutions keeping a customer focus mindset.
  • Understanding of Wärtsilä business, quality, and workplace safety is a plus.
