Description

Job Purpose

  • To provide an efficient, professional front line technical support service for lubricants, fuels and associated services.
  • To coordinate with other sales support functions and contribute to the development, implementation and especially the effective delivery of the Class of Business CVPs within the Operating Unit (Senegal).

Dimensions

  • Annual Proceeds: (all OU fuels, lubricants and bitumen business)
  • Annual C5 earnings: (all OU fuels, lubricants and bitumen business)
  • Capex (S&D + Retail + B2B)
  • Annual Budget: Own operating costs
  • Staff: 0
  • Other: Indirect influence over the competence of sales and S&D staff across the OU. Influence through stakeholder management over product specifications and liability.

Principal Accountabilities

  • In conjunction with sales team maintain and develop favorable relations with key and developing customers through the effective delivery of competitive technical services.
  • Give advice on general tribological matters and. Investigate, manage and resolve specific product related problems.
  • Give advice on general product issues including new product developments and key elements of impending industry or Shell developments, as guided by marketing or technical aspects management. Investigate, manage and resolve specific product-related technical problems.
  • Maintain standards of quality assurance and product stewardship.
  • Give product technical support to on site Vivo Energy depot staff (training, CVP’s, product stewardship, etc..)
  • Product Stewardship Focal point. Provide technical response to field force and customers on emergency product spills advising on safe disposal/treatment options.
  • Assist customers and sales force with the interpretation of laboratory results, reports and analyses. Co-ordinate all E-quip and equivalent services.
  • Compile lubrication surveys as and when requested and revise as necessary.
  • Provide general oil monitoring service to customers as guided by the businesses.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to modify existing services or implement profitable new services
  • Maintain and strengthen the brand to ensure the retention of a competitive edge in the market place.
  • Pro-actively identify opportunities / facilities for new products and assist with field trials in conjunction with product and market specialists as required.
  • Participate in products (fuels, lubricants, bitumen) training programs for Shell and non-Shell staff as and when required.
  • Interact with the Africa Product & Technical team on issues of product-related policy and for specialist technical advice and learning.

Key Challenges

  • To be regarded both inside and outside Shell as technically competent to evaluate and interpret product applications and problems and provide effective solutions.
  • To apply own expertise in identifying opportunities that could benefit the fuels, lubricants and bitumen businesses and to work as an integrated member of the CoB teams.
  • To execute product technical skills development programs for Sales teams and the on site personal, and develop or reinforce our own technical service expertise.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • An appropriate engineering or scientific qualification is preferably but not necessarily
  • Experience in a technical environment preferably including lubrication management in addition to formal qualifications would be an advantage, particularly in areas close to those described above in view of the urgent need to fill these positions with fully competent individuals.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining technical or commercial relationships with profitable customers across a range of oil products market sectors would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English is essential to enable effective networking with the broader Vivo Energy technical community.
