This vacancy annoucement is advertised on behalf of MONUSCO. UNOPS provides administrative support to MONUSCO for this recruitment, the personnel recruited will be under MONUSCO contract and paid according to their salary scale.
The MONUSCO Public Information Division Unit’s mandate is developing the UN Mission communication strategy in the DRC through:
promoting visibility for MONUSCO’s actions;
conveying MONUSCO’s mandates to populations, journalists, civil society and relevant stakeholders and actions;
highlighting the work of MONUSCO in the DRC;
providing the necessary means of communication to the Mission leadership and sections for information sharing and dissemination;
keeping UN headquarters informed on any media developments or actions under the scope of the UN mandate in the DRC.
This Project will provide HR support and procurement services to the MONUSCO Public Information Division Unit (PID) in order to enhance its capabilities and scale up its actions and reach to be better prepared to fight false information, prevent and respond to digital attacks.
The consultant is located within MONUSCO’s Strategic Communication and Public Information Department. Under the overall authority of the Chief of the Strategic Communication and Public Information Department, the incumbent operates as Digital Archivist Consultant. He/she is responsible for assisting the Multimedia and Content Production Unit to establish a digital preservation programs, based on international standards, to ensure the control, management, and preservation all Multimedia content (Photos and Videos).
The Consultant will collaborate with the Chief of Multimedia and the Missions, FTS (Field Technology Services) on the development of digital archival policies and procedures, assist with the implementation and management of an electronic archiving system, and provide support for electronic records management within MONUSCO HQ and fields offices.
The major activities in the context of building a trustworthy digital repository aggregating records from all relevant sources and ensuring their long-term preservation, as well as in the context of MONUSCO’s Exit strategy and Transition process in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
