Plan International Sierra Leone is seeking to recruit top-notch professional to fulfil the position of Sponsorship Alumni Engagement Coordinator based at the Country Office {Contingent on proposal award} to deliver the tasks outlined below:
Summary of the position
The Sponsorship Alumni Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in developing and strengthening Sponsorship Alumni association in the country.
The holder of the position assists in building alumni relations with former sponsored children and programme participants (aged 18 to 24 and 25 and above), and to provide administrative support for the team, a key role in developing and strengthening relationships.
The Sponsorship Alumni Engagement Coordinator also provides support to the Sponsorship Support Manager and Head of Programmes for all aspects of alumni relations delivery, including the production of publications, e-communications, data management, event management, and volunteer stewardship.
Dimensions of role
There are elements of project management within aspects of the role and a commitment to customer service and building positive relationships is integral to this role.
The Sponsorship Alumni Engagement Coordinator must also:
Understanding what alumni want to advocate and campaign for gender equality, and their ideas for how to use media to do this in an effective way.
Support creating the vision for what a Plan International ‘alumni network’ can achieve.
Work with the Alumni Networks in WACA to decide what they want to test as an ‘alumni network’.
Creating an approach for how to grow the network and engage more Plan International Alumni.
Engage and collaborate effectively with other youth movements in WACA for alignment and consolidated efforts to increase impact in the achievement of children’s rights and equality for girls.
Support creating the vision for what a Plan International ‘alumni network’ can achieve.
Accountabilities
Alumni Relations Support
To respond to requests and queries from Sponsorship Alumni relating to alumni services and activities.
Maintain and update content within the alumni pages of the Sponsorship Alumni website, including service, event and news updates and contribution to the creation and updating of alumni profiles
Promote Sponsorship Alumni networks and services via online social networking sites such as the Plan International’s own site, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook, and to develop new ways of leveraging these methods of engagement
Undertake mailings to alumni as required
Liaise with Sponsorship Alumni to encourage further Plan International Sponsorship Alumni interaction and engagement
Provide support to Sponsorship Alumni volunteers regarding their offers of help to Plan International Sierra Leone, for example with visits, guest lectures and engagement with supporter/private donor recruitment and the community experience.
Creating an approach of how the network can grow and engage more Plan International Alumni members.
Information Management
To maintain the database of alumni information, including personal contact details and employment information, in line with the data protection regulations.
To record feedback and ongoing communications and capture relevant data.
To produce statistical information on alumni as required
Collate, record and monitor event attendance, also carrying out follow-up action and referrals
Provide relevant information to the Sponsorship Support Manager in relation to alumni contributions in terms of time and expertise.
Administrative Support
To provide administrative support to the team: including creating and developing the annual events calendar, event bookings, etc.
To provide cover for the Sponsorship team during leave and staff absence
To undertake general office duties as required.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Education/Professional Background:
Essential
A recognized degree or diploma from a reputable institution of learning
Fluent in English
Able to work with colleagues in the WACA region as applicable
IT and digital skills (able to use Microsoft Office and social media channels)
Strong communication skills
Innovation mind set (curious, flexible, open to new ideas and changes in direction as required)
Problem solving skills
Passionate about gender equality and social impact
Organised and proactive
Leadership attributes
Willingness and ability to travel within PIIAS for field visits as required
Ability to facilitate difficult discussions with various stakeholders – including on young people’s social issues affecting them.
Excellent command English both speaking and writing.
Desirable
Former Plan International Sponsored Child or Programme Participant
Experience coordinating or leading a group or community
Experience managing a budget
Interest in creating multimedia content (videos, images, animations)
Understanding and ability to apply good principles of project cycle management including monitoring, evaluation and learning
Understanding of gender and inclusion in emergencies, and specific gender inequalities and risks in emergencies contexts, especially for young people.
Present/speak about gender equality and inclusion with gravitas and passion, and in a manner that people can relate to and understand in their local context.
Influence change in staff and/or partners who do not yet share a commitment to gender equality and girls’ empowerment.
Strong team-building and motivational skills.
Ability to inspire others and bring them around a common agenda.
Knowledge of current best practice in gender transformative programming, gender equality and experience integrating this into programmes in developing country contexts
Knowledge of strategic planning processes and theories of gender and inclusion programming.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
