The Active Charnwood is now inviting applications for its Sports Awards.

The Awards will take place at Burleigh Court on the Evening of Monday 5th December 2022.

The Award Categories
Let’s Get Moving Schools Award
This award is for primary or secondary schools that have achieved and can demonstrate increasing participation in sport and physical activity and creating opportunities for all across the school to be active. Nominees should also engage with community sport and create strong links with local clubs.
Junior Sports Person of the Year
This award is for a sportsperson, including those with disabilities, under the age of 18yrs on 31st August 2022 who has excelled and / or exceeded all expectations in their performances in the last 12 months. Examples of local, county, regional, national, and international competitions entered with placings required.
Senior Sports Person of the Year
This award is for a sportsperson, including those with disabilities, aged 18 and over who has excelled and / or exceeded all expectations in their performances in the last 12 months. Examples of local, county, regional, national, and international competitions entered with placings required.
Lets Get Moving Junior Ambassador(s) of the Year
This award recognises an individual or group, under the age of 18yrs on 31st August 2022, who have had positive impact on others as a result of giving their time, either coaching, volunteering or officiating, within sport and physical activity in the last 12 months. Nominees may be considered an inspiration and positive role model to encourage more people to start, stay and succeed in physical activity or sport and have built strong relationships and links with clubs, schools and/or other community organisations.
Lets Get Moving Senior Ambassador(s) of the Year
This award recognises an individual or group aged 18 and over who have had positive impact on others as a result of giving their time, either coaching, volunteering or officiating, within sport and physical activity in the last 12 months. Nominees may be considered an inspiration and positive role model to encourage more people to start, stay and succeed in physical activity or sport and have built strong relationships and links with clubs, schools and/or other community organisations.
Outstanding Contribution to Sport/PA/Health
This special award recognises an individual or group who has made an outstanding contribution to sport and/or physical activity in Charnwood over several years. Showing exceptional commitment – a real unsung hero. They will have ‘gone over and the call of duty. A true role model for others. Not restricted to the time frame.
Club of the Year
This award is for a club that has demonstrated commitment to the development of the members of their club, including participants, coaches and volunteers. The club must have engaged well with their local community and have an effective management structure which will sustain the club in the future. Nominees may have widened access to their sport to include people who do not normally have the opportunity to take part, engaging people from ‘hard to reach’ groups.
Let’s Get Moving Wellbeing at Work Award
This award recognises an organisation that can demonstrate their commitment to the health and wellbeing of their staff. They can demonstrate a drive to ensure health and wellbeing is part of the culture of their organisation. This may be providing opportunities to get active, support around mental health and healthy eating.
Joe Humphries Memorial Trust Award
This special recognition award recognises inspirational people/groups who have gone and beyond and made outstanding achievements, in the face of adversity.
