Background
UNICEF WCARO is seeking a solution oriented intern to join the Social Policy team and support data management , analysis and the mapping of innovation technologies to support Social Policy work. The intern will provide additional support in data identification, preparation and design of the child poverty Web portal.. Additionally, the Intern will collaborate with the ICT and T4D team for the archiving social Policy reports and other documents on the Social Policy sharepoint.

Objectives
The primary objective for the internship is to support WCARO – Social Policy section in the data analysis and information management, including the PF4C analyses, Child poverty reports and social protection policy documents. In addition the intern will support the T4D team in the deign of the child poverty Web portal and thye mapping of innovations in Social Protection.
Scope of work
As part of our team, the intern will be integrated into the work flow to get to know structures and processes, expand his/her theoretical knowledge through challenging practical experience and work independently on projects. She/he will strengthen our team by contributing his/her knowledge and ideas. We offer the chance for the intern to :
• Gain skills in analyzing and communicating Social Policy data, especially data analysis, and management.
• Strengthening skills in communication, collaboration , partnership and coordination within a complex organizational and implementation structure.
• Get an understanding and involvement of programming work done by UNICEF to reach the results for children in the Western and Central African Region
Data management and interoperability
• In partnership with the T4D team, structure the Social Policy Web page on the sharepoint for easy classification of social policy documents (reports, policy documents, training materials etc.);
• Assist in the identification, extraction, preparation of data originating from various online and Microsoft office solutions (Insight, SQL-based Databases, Excel, Access) for social policy data analysis and visualisation
• Support the udating and structuring of the PF4C database, and data visualization.
• Support the T4D and social Policy teams in the design of the child poverty Web-portal.
Mapping Innovation technologies and digital learning platforms for Social Protection and education programs.
• Assist in the mapping of digital labs, innovation centers and platforms develpping applications or experimenting digital solutions that can contribute to the efficiency of the education sensitive social protection programs, specifically the quality of education
• Identify partnership opportunity , and analyse the scalability models of such innovations in social protection and education in the West and Central Africa
• Assess learning and digital solutions in the region to support child learning in the context of conflicts or displacement or other shocks.
Expected deliverables
As part of his/her work, the intern will provide significant support to the ongoing section work to achieve the following deliverables:
• The Social Policy sharepoint is updated, the Web page redesigned and the social policy key documents posted.
• The mapping of Innovation technologies and digital learning platforms for Social Protection and education programs is finalized, and with key recommandations discussed with the Social Policy, education and T4D sections
Timing
Expected start date is January 2020
Administrative Issues
The intern will work under the supervision of the Social Policy Specialist who will be responsible for the general coordination and scheduling and in close collaboration with the Social Policy Regional Advisor. Weekly meetings will be held between the intern and its supervisor to discuss progress and adjustments.
The intern will be provided with a desk office and will be using UNICEF provided ICT equipment.
The regular office hours will apply to the intern.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
• Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degree programme (Statistics, economy or computer science, or have graduated within the past two years.
• Be proficient in at least one of UNICEF’s working languages: English, French or Spanish. Fluency in the working language of the office you are applying to is required.
• Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
• Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and
