Purpose:  to provide technical assistance on complementary feeding, end-user monitoring tools and follow-up pending activities on CINuS under the DFID project.
How can you make a difference?
Specific tasks
Support the section in developing a region-specific strategy in Oromia, Amhara, Tigray Somali and SNPPR for complementary feeding of children 6-23 months with list of interventions and approaches to be followed including partnerships to develop.
Follow the development of context specific SBCC material for the above regions.
Support implementation of innovative activities under the DFID project such as; inclusion of preventive nutrition supplies into the end-user monitoring tool and piloting it in CINuS woredas.
Draw human interest stories from the field and present to the donor in a written form.
Consolidate inputs from each region and prepare a high-quality annual progress report for submission to DFID.
Develop on-the-job training manual to be used by UNICEF nutrition officers, monitors and technical assistants to strengthen implementation of CINuS in UNICEF woredas.
Develop a standardized supervision checklist for CINuS woredas.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Education requirements: An advanced university degree in nutrition, public health, food security, international health and nutrition, and other related field of experience is required. *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
Employment experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience, with progressively greater management in nutrition programmes at the national and regional levels. Proven track record of working in food security and nutrition programmes with UN, INGOs or other development agencies in developing countries. Relevant experience in working with varied donor funding instruments is an asset. Proven track record and knowledge in nutrition sensitive agriculture programs an asset.
Language requirement: Fluency in English and Amharic language is required.
Competencies: Knowledge of latest issues, development and trends in nutrition security, food security. Strong facilitation and management, monitoring and evaluation skills. Flexibility to travel at short notice, sometimes to difficult and hazardous locations.
