How can you make a difference?
The Logistics Officer will be responsible for coordinating all logistics activities in the area of deployment, in addition to coordination with the logistics partners on the ground. This includes:
Provide logistics input, including advising on infrastructure constraints (e.g. customs clearance, port capacity, transport options and warehousing capacity) and different delivery mechanisms to the affected areas;
Provide specialized support in the area of logistics and contributing to the effective delivery and distribution of supplies. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support logistics operations management in response to the emergency requirements;
Identify local needs and options for logistics third party services (e.g. warehousing, transport, distribution) and manage such service providers including;
Manage documentation processing for execution of logistics operations (e.g. customs clearance, invoice verification), and take appropriate actions to resolve operational issues, escalating complex issues;
Report on local logistics operations to the Logistics Coordinator
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
A university degree is required in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law, International Development, Health or related social science field.
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, at the national or international levels, in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, administration and/or other directly-related technical fields is required.
Understanding of development and humanitarian work. Emergency experience an advantage.
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
