The UNICEF Kenya Country Office consists of the Office of the Representative, 16 teams in programme and operations based in Nairobi and three zonal offices located in Kisumu, Lodwar, Garissa. From time to time, KCO requires team building and individual coaching services for teams based in Nairobi and zonal offices. The objective of this activity is to further enhance the functionality and effectiveness of the teams in KCO, through raising intra- and inter-personal and cultural awareness, increasing collaboration, trust and cohesiveness among the team members. Teams vary in cohesiveness and include both international staff and national staff.
More specifically, the objectives of the exercise are: team harmony and conflict diagnostics, enhancement of team productivity and creativity through individual and collective counseling and exercises focusing on communication and mutual understanding; trust and collaboration; motivation and dialogue; delivering results effectively; effectiveness and participation; individual stress management and team resilience.
Implementation of these activities will be supervised by the HR Manager as well as one or more members of the office Management Team. The consultant will work in close collaboration with the teams, Section Chiefs, Deputy Representatives and Representative.
Scope of work
1. In collaboration with team managers, the consultant will identify the problems to be addressed for a specific team–diagnostic. Based on discussion with the section chief and team members, he/she will design a training/coaching agenda for each team, based on their collective buy-in, which would include, as necessary, the following topics:
a. Understanding ourselves and others, how do we work as a team (using, for example, Myers-Briggs indicators or similar technique), including analysis of different cultures present in the team and how these cultures impact relationships in the team;
b. Develop active listening skills, ability to give and receive constructive feedback, have difficult conversations in the context of performance review and beyond;
c. Develop skills for understanding and addressing conflict in teams so that the results are achieved;
d. Help teams to foster a work environment which respects differing opinions and is free from harassment and abuse of authority.
2. Conduct training/coaching on-site session for each team during engagements of generally 1 to 3 days of onsight work with the teams.
3. Based on the outputs of the above training/coaching, the consultant may identify developmental needs for individual team members and for the team for a duration not to exceed 6 months past the initial onsite engagement.
4. Conduct one-hour one-on-one follow-up coaching session by Skype based on developmental needs identified.
5. Produce a report for each section which would contain the outline of the section’s problems, agenda/content of the training/coaching, key outcomes of the training/coaching, and developmental recommendations for the team and individuals, summary of follow-up sessions (while maintaining team members’ confidentiality).

Minimum Requirements
10 Years of relevant experience
Masters degree in Psychology, HR Management, HR Development, or other relevant area
Certification in coaching and psychometric assessments; demonstrated experience in international teams’ training and coaching, including intercultural aspects; experience in conflict management; sound analytical skills, experience in curriculum design and psychometric assessments
