The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currenlty seeking applications for the School Community Grants.

UNICEF Australia’s research has shown that the coronavirus pandemic has impacted children and young people across Australia in a myriad of ways, and the number of young people who are coping is in decline.

As part of their support to assist children and local communities in the context of COVID-19, They will be providing a one-off round of School Community Grants for 30 primary and high schools to use on activities related to strengthening connectivity, wellbeing and implementing social distancing programs in a child-friendly way during the pandemic.

COVID-19 is impacting children and young people differently across the country. For many, especially those who have been recently impacted by bushfire and drought, this isn’t their first crisis. In furthering UNICEF Australia’s work in drought and bushfire affected communities, the grant is open to Parents and Citizens’ Associations attached to eligible schools in drought and/or bushfire affected areas. It is intended to benefit students and their school community by contributing to small scale projects (including the purchase of technology/supplies) and their associated costs at the local level.

Parents and Citizens’ Associations are encouraged to make an application on behalf of their schools for this grant, but we request that the chosen school Principal’s approval is given when submitting your applications.

Funding Information

The maximum award granted for each school is AUD$3,000
UNICEF Australia will award grants to maximum 30 schools in this grant round.
