OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST The Programme Coordinator for Culture, under the direct supervision of the Director for Culture and Emergencies (CLT/CEM) and the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Culture, will be responsible for the analytical and management as well as the project coordination aspects of the day-to-day implementation of projects and activities identified within the Framework Funds-in-Trust Agreement to strengthen cooperation in the field of culture and cultural heritage concluded by the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UNESCO on 15 March 2020.
In particular, she/he will be responsible for:Coordination of the implementation of the Programme and the projects to be funded under it.
Day-to-day support and monitoring with the different project teams that will develop and implement the respective projects under the Programme.Quality assurance of the project elaboration, towards the outcome and impact of the Programme.Reporting and communication on the projects’ and overall Programme achievements.Coordination of the monitoring of the Programme, including the organization of and follow-up to monitoring meetings with the projects teams.Organization and follow-up of Programme Steering Committee  (PSC) Meetings between UNESCO and the donor, as appropriate.Expedition of delivery ensuring transparency, enhanced impact and higher visibility, to assess the Programme implementation status and the results achieved, and review of new proposals for the PSC’s approval.Organization of an internal UNESCO Working group, headed by the Assistant Director-General for Culture, to review the proposals and make final recommendations ensuring relevance to the Programme priorities as well as optimizing its visibility.COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)Planning and organizing (C)Results focus (C)Teamwork (C)-For detailed information, please consult the UNESCO Competency Framework.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATIONAdvanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in the field of culture, cultural and natural heritage, cultural and creative industries, or related areas.
WORK EXPERIENCEA minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in the planning, coordination and monitoring of programmes and projects related to the field of culture.
Experience in the preparation and drafting of reports, concise documents and briefings.Relevant experience acquired at the international level. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Strong analytical and programming skills, including the ability to use in-house reporting systems (programmatic and financial ones).
Strong planning and organizational skills; ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor own work plan; ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines as well as flexibility to adjust work schedules and priorities.Demonstrated budgeting and monitoring skills.Familiarity with UNESCO financial and administrative procedures.Strong communications skills, both oral and written.Ability to interact efficiently with a wide range of partners and stakeholders within and outside the Organization.Demonstrated ability to work in a team and maintain effective working relationships with people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.Strong IT skills.
LANGUAGESExcellent knowledge of English or French and good knowledge of the other.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS WORK EXPERIENCEExperience in the field of culture.
Relevant experience in the United Nations or similar International Organization.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIESKnowledge of UNESCO’s Culture Conventions.
LANGUAGESGood knowledge of Arabic.
