UNESCO inviting Proposals for Training Young Community Leaders on MIL in Gambia

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is pleased to announce RFP for Training young community leaders on MIL(Media and Information literacy) that aims to foster their participation to peaceful and democratic public discourse in the Gambia.

The training is part of its component of the Peace Building Fund project entitled “Young Women and Men as Stakeholders in Ensuring Peaceful Democratic Processes and Advocates for the Prevention of Violence and Hate Speech”. The two-year project is being implemented by the UN System in The Gambia as a part of the response to such challenges affecting community cohesion.

Objective

To build the capacity of young people with MIL skills so they can engage ethically with information and media, particularly social media, for positive community development through peaceful and democratic public discourse.

Tasks

Within the framework of this Request for Proposals, the UNESCO Dakar office seeks to contract with an organization capable of:

Training young community leaders on MIL
Specific tasks:
Develop a detailed work plan outlining the different phases of the implementation process and the detailed budget;
Identify in coordination with UNESCO Dakar the facilitators and experts in charge of developing the training modules and facilitating the training sessions. Submit to UNESCO Dakar the CVs of the facilitators and experts;
Development of the training modules;
Identify, for UNESCO’s approval, at least 40 young community leaders from Upper River Region, Central River Region, North Bank Region, West Coast Region, and Kanifing Municipality (regions of the project) who will participate in the training workshop;
Organize a 3-day workshop ensuring the participation of the 40 young community leaders from the five regions (an average of 8 leaders per region);
Manage all the logistics necessary for the organization of the activities (catering, accommodation, transport, etc.), including the application of the health measures recommended by the health authorities in the context of COVID-19;
Ensure media coverage and invite the competent authorities and other partners to the opening or closing of the workshop;
Elaborate a technical report (including pre- and post-test evaluations of participants, genderdisaggregated attendance list and regional attendance);
Prepare and submit to UNESCO the certified financial report with original supporting documents for all expenditures incurred.
Note Two different trainings should be organised. The first training before the end of this year, 2021, and the second in the first quarter of 2022. Each training targets at least 40 young community leaders.

Deliverables

Detailed implementation plan and budget for the activity;
Provisional list of facilitators and consultants for the training;
Provisional list of participants list for the training;
Training module on MIL for young community leaders;
Detailed technical report for each of the two trainings providing a summary of results achieved, lessons learned, challenges and recommendations for improving the training and for scaling up;
Detailed financial report for each of the two trainings;
