Child Protection Specialist (Violence and Exploitation), L-4, WCARO Dakar Under the supervision of the Senior Child Protection Specialist (Harmful practices),    the Child Protection Specialist (Violence and Exploitation), will work alongside the Child Protection Specialist, Systems to ensure that the priority vulnerabilities of children related to violence and exploitation within the West and Central Africa Child Protection Strategy are addressed through strengthened technical support to the 24 Country Offices, enhanced partnerships, evidence-based advocacy, and capacity building.        The post holder will hold particular accountability for building a regional program on children on the move and will support country offices to implement programmes addressing violence and exploitation against children and will ensure that his/her work builds on and links into existing child protection systems strengthening work. Provide technical support and guidance to priority country offices in ensuring that national child protection systems provide a continuum of care and protection for children on the move. Promote partnerships with both regional entities (ECOWAS, ECCAS, African Union) as well as relevant UN Agencies (notably IOM and UNHCR) and civil society organizations to ensure a clear representation of UNICEF’s role and mandate in this work in promoting children’s best interests. As appropriate, initiate and support cross-border communication and coordination, including inter-regional cooperation, notably with MENARO and ECARO. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the setting of standards and methodologies for the work on children on the move in the WCAR region; Provide technical support and advice to country offices and partners in the West and Central Africa region on the analysis, strategic planning and strengthening of child protection systems to better prevent and respond to violence against children. The post holder will work closely with both the CP Specialist, Systems and the CP Specialist, Monitoring and Evaluation to ensure that WCAR Cos are provided with quality technical support in developing evidence-based programs that can demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of national child protection systems addressing physical and emotional violence against children; To qualify as a Change Agent for every Child, you will have¦ An Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Social Work or related areas is required Our core values of Commitment, Diversity and Integrity and core competencies in Communication, Working with People and Drive for Results.
