UNDP Albania: Call for Grants for Non-government Organizations

UNDP is inviting partner non-government organization to strengthen the role of young women and men in the municipalities of Shkodra, Kukes and Diber.

 

The activities should be implemented in close collaboration with youthgroups. NGOs that bring innovation solutions to the problem will have a distinct advantage.

The purpose of this grant scheme is to support interested CSOs to provide different type innovative solutions on improving and strengthening the role of young women and men in the municipalities of Shkoder, Kukes and Diber.

The project “Support to employment and social services for vulnerable youth and women in Northern Albania” focuses on selected municipalities of Shkoder, Diber and Kukes. With the support of the British Embassy in Albania and the experience of UNDP in the field of youth employment, vocational education, training and social inclusion, this short-term intervention aims at helping and supporting the young people of Albania, by not only offering opportunities for self-employment and start-ups, but also enhancing capacities to deal with vulnerable young people.

Objectives

The interested CSOs shall submit proposals providing innovative ideas to the challenge of strengthening the role of young women and men in the target municipality, in the area of:

  • Strengthening youth engagement and participation in municipality decision making;
  • Provision of professional or soft skills development opportunities which lead to sustainable employment;
  • Supporting community-based recreational activities;
  • Supporting community-based self-help initiatives;
  • Supporting NGOs and community-based organisations involved with nature-based solutions, climate change action and gender equality

Budget Size and Duration

  • Proposal amounts should not exceed $20,000. At least one grant will be awarded in each municipality.
  • The amount requested in the proposal should be commensurate with the organization’s administrative and financial management capabilities.
  • Duration of the project shall be 4 months: March – June 2019

Eligibility and Qualification Criteria

Interested CSOs must meet the following criteria to be eligible for selection:

  • Be legally registered as a CSO in accordance with the Albanian legislation;
  • Be fully operational in the target municipality (Shkodra, Kukes and/or Dibra);
  • Mandate and founding document should be in line with the activities for which the fund is being sought;
  • Have an established office and experience in similar/related activities.
  • Have previous experience in working with youth group.
  • CSOs previously funded by international organisations will have a distinct advantage.
