The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is accepting applications for the 2nd round of the “Empreende Jovem” Program on Startups Innovation Competition.

This is a joint initiative between the United Nations Development Program Development | UNDP and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship, aimed at support the private sector, job creation and, through this, the improvement of economies family members of all those involved, both entrepreneurs and those working in the companies it is intended to support.

This project will be implemented through an instrumented platform through incubators, which are spaces where there will be means and personnel available to work with entrepreneurs both in the development of their ideas and in the monitoring of Business. The services provided by the incubators will include training and mentoring actions so that the capacities of the entrepreneurs are progressively high and at the same time after some time they are prepared to face the challenges of a company. The incubators will monitor the benefited entrepreneurs in the period of business development and implementation.

Objective

The main objective of this program is the promotion of youth entrepreneurship and the creation of youth employment, so the participants who fall into this age group, here between 18 and 40 years old on 12.31.2020, and who favor the creation of jobs work with these characteristics will be valued in their proposals.

This fund has an allocation of USD 150,000 with the following distribution of financing: 26 projects with a maximum of 5,000 USD in prize money, and 20,000 USD for divide by the most innovative projects, a maximum of 6.
Eligibility Criteria

Young people from São Tomé between 18 (at the date of registration) and 40 years (at the date of 31/12/2020), who have active business activity, willing to participate in the training process, mentoring, and incubation scheduled for 8 months. They cannot be benefiting from any source of funding promoted by UNDP or the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship.
Being a Santomean (having an Identity Card or Santomean Passport)
Submit a business idea to develop;
Not having an active business activity or participation in companies;
Be willing to participate in the process of training, incubating and mentoring the business (if selected);
Not be benefiting from any funding source promoted by UNDP or by the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship;
Have a legitimate representative residing in STP, in the case of resident promoters in the Diaspora.
