U.S. Mission to Brazil: Broadcast and Digital Journalism Workshop

The United States Department of State’s Embassy in Brasília, Brazil, is seeking applications from qualified Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Educational Institutions and other qualified organizations for a Grant to implement the program entitled ‘Broadcast Journalism of Today’.

This workshop should provide hands-on training to journalism students on all stages of producing news, via broadcast and digital media.

This initiative aims to expose Brazil’s next generation of journalists to the practices and ethics of U.S. journalism and promote greater objectivity and technical capacity in the broadcasters of the future. Aligning new digital and emerging tools and broadcast technology will create trustworthy and informational news.

Through this program, they will provide Brazilian’s journalism students with the opportunity to improve their knowledge of best practices in broadcast journalism and media plan for digital platforms in the United States.

  • Award Ceiling: $50,000
  • Award Floor: $25,000

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants who are eligible to apply are U.S. and overseas-based Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Public International Organizations (PIOs), Educational Institutions and other qualified organizations who are able to respond to the NOFO and be able to mobilize in a short period of time.
  • To be eligible for a grant award, in addition to other conditions of this NOFO, organizations must have a commitment to non‐discrimination with respect to beneficiaries and adherence to equal opportunity employment practices. Non‐discrimination includes equal treatment without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, gender, and political affiliation.
  • Applicants are reminded that U.S. Executive Orders and U.S. law prohibits transactions with, and the provision of resources and support to, individuals and organizations associated with terrorism. It is the legal responsibility of the Recipient to ensure compliance with these Executive Orders and laws. This provision must be included in any sub‐awards issued under this grant award.
