U.S. Embassy in Yangon/Myanmar: ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program

The U.S. Embassy in Yangon has announced the U.S.–ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program.
Conduct scholarly, professional research and lecture in the United Statesfor 3-4 months in late 2019; seek opportunities to provide an ASEAN perspective through guest lectures, seminars, or participation in academic or professional conferences.
FIELDS OF STUDY
Fields that support ASEAN initiatives including supporting regional economic integration, expanding maritime cooperation, promoting opportunities for women, fostering green growth, and addressing transnational challenges (including human trafficking, climate change, sustainable fishing, wildlife trafficking, and countering violent extremism). These fields can include:
- Education,
- Environmental Sciences,
- Financial Market Integration,
- Food Technology,
- Information Sciences,
- Journalism,
- Law,
- Political Science,
- Public Administration,
- Public/Global Health,
- Statistics,
- Trade and Investment,
- Trade Facilitation,
- TEFL & Applied Linguistics
Eligibility Criteria
An applicant:
- must be a Myanmar citizen;
- must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher;
- must be proficient in English (minimum TOEFL 550). Note: applicant do not need a TOEFL score to apply for this program, but applicant may be asked to take the TOEFL during the application process;
- should have relevant degrees or professional experience in the proposed field of study;
- should have little or no previous experience studying or working in the United States;
- must be able to take leave from home institution or post.
- Open to all university faculty, ministry officials, government officials, and professionals in the private sector, think tanks, and staff of NGOs.
