TrustAfrica seeks to strengthen its Program communication team with a dynamic, creative, experienced individual in the position of Communications Associate. The Communications Associate will take responsibility for coordinating specific program communications and messaging and will work with the Programs team, Communications and Advocacy Officer as well as Learning Manager to package the work being done and communicate it effectively with multiple audiences. S/he will profile and amplify program results, strategies and stories of change that showcase TrustAfrica’s program impact in a creative and dynamic manner.
Specific Responsibilities :
Under the supervision of the Program Manager and working with the Program Team and Communication and Advocacy Officer, design a communications strategy and plan for specific programs, with clear communication goals and targets and schedules.
Harvest, package and amplify impactful content on TrustAfrica’s programming. Coordinate gathering content from Program teams and providing editorial and design support where
Develop and implement a plan for utilizing appropriate communication channels and tools, including media and public relations, internal communications, advertising, marketing, digital and social media, and production of strategic communication materials.
Identify key cutting-edge technological tools and products, which can serve the program’s purpose to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure TrustAfrica brand consistency across all internal and external program communications, and marketing processes and procedures align to best practices and guidelines from partners, donors.
Track analyze and report on impact of communications activities, social media (social and traditional) to produce monthly reports with statistics on reach and engagement for decision-making.
Support the development of clear, compelling messages and content to be used across a variety of platforms, including digital channels, social media, internal and external publications, and for events and convenings, campaigns and advocacy engagements.
Facilitate the production of newsletters, IEC materials, publicity materials. Support in drafting of various articles, letters, reports and communiques as and when required as well as press materials including press statements and releases, and information kits/fact sheets.
Support the development of relevant knowledge, advocacy and communication materials, fundraising, training materials, toolkits and tools.
Enhance the visibility and understanding of program principles and theory of change through innovative ways of working, communication and being in community.
Manage assigned social media and other channels for consistency, data and content accuracy.
Identify and manage approved vendors such as printers, journalists, graphic designers etc.
Coordinate gathering content for communication from Program Team and providing additional support where needed, working closely with the communications office.
And Skills :
At least a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, International Relations, Public Affairs, Journalism, Marketing or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 4 years’ experience with development communication, advocacy and community outreach.
A good track record in managing communication with multiple stakeholders, especially rural and urban grassroots or marginalized communities
Have a grasp of equitable development, citizen agency topics and ability to identify communications and advocacy related opportunities and risks in an international environment.
Demonstrated experience and skills with online and digital tools
Portfolio of work showing capacity to use graphic design, publishing and digital production
Excellent grasp of English and ability to communicate in French an advantage
Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
A good time manager, results oriented individual who exhibits professionalism at all times
An effective communicator – verbal, written, presentation of ideas in multiple formats
Creative mindset that is applied to problem-solving and can translate ideas into creative products
Willingness to engage others, embracing diversity and work in a multicultural team and cross functional teams.
Perceptive/observant, with strong emotional intelligence and listening skills
Able to lead and work independently and remotely with minimal supervision
