The NBA recruits 01 Basketball Operations Assistant
Position Summary
This role will report to the BAL League Operations department and will provide operational, program & administrative support for BAL basketball operations matters (ranging from combines to player transactions and game enforcement). The ideal candidate will bring some experience or exposure to basketball or sports operations, strong communication and project management skills.
Major Responsibilities
- Assist with the management and execution of BAL basketball and game operations, inclusive of player, team, and referee matters, in partnership with the NBA International Basketball Operations team
- Assist in conducting BAL player and team orientation to BAL league rules and regulations
- Coordinate team practice times at sites when traveling
- Schedule practice, shoot-around times and oversee the preparation of the practice floor
- Through coordination with the BAL teams, assist with the development of BAL schedule
- In partnership with the internal Events team and external travel agency assist in the coordination of BAL team travel, including transportation arrangements, lodging, and meals, player, and team visa matters
- Provide operational and administrative support to the BAL medical team on all BAL health & safety protocols, as needed
- Support off-season basketball activities and events, as needed
- Provide support to all CSR activities, as needed
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Strong knowledge of the basketball landscape, preferred well-versed in African cultures and business practices
- Demonstrated computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn quickly
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Business level fluency in English required, French a plus
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-national matrix organization and manage complex projects
- Ability to travel extensively across Africa
Experience Needed
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in or exposure to basketball or sports operations (playing, coaching, talent evaluation, programming etc).
- High-level (college or professional) basketball playing experience, preferred
- Experience with running basketball practices, clinics, and camps, a plus
