Summary of Role:
This is an expatriate 2-year fly-in fly-out role: 8 weeks on / 4 weeks off roster with travel in company time to our Sabodala mine site in Senegal.
Key Responsibilities:
• The Protective Services Coordinator will report to the Protective Services Superintendent and will be required to represent Teranga Gold Corporation on the mine site as third most senior position in the Protective Services team. The primary purpose of the Coordinator position is to assist the PS Superintendent in the prevention of zero loss to the company’s assets.
• Use a proactive approach of CCTV System to protect the Company, including Company employees, assets, environment and reputation.
• Interact and participate with the contractor, mine and processing departments personnel to ensure sustained development of a safe and healthy work environment on the project site and within the communities of contact.
• Assure cost effective and high quality initiatives are taken.Achievement of Zero Property Loss Incidents is considered as a key performance indicator. Implement a security management capability that will ensure prevention of material loss
• Ensure that any loss is investigated in a proactive manner, to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
• Identify, mitigate and resolve any potential security breaches.
• Promote and implement the appropriate policies and procedures that are based on the submissions and commitments to the governing agencies and the best management practices that are part of our Sabodala Gold Operating System and corporate philosophy.
• The Environment Impact Assessment and the Environmental Management Plan are key documents that must be understood, promoted and adhered to as the project proceeds with development and construction.
• Implement the necessary programs and reporting functions that will facilitate timely reporting of costs, training schedules and commitment forecasts.
• Ensure Senior Security Specialists, Security Specialists and Supervisors are executing their roles and responsibilities.
• Develop and promote a Succession Plan that will define appropriate localization initiatives and ensure these commitments are met.
• Coach and Mentor subordinate security professionals, perform activities such as assigning work & evaluate performance with free fair and transparent manner.
• Perform the duties of the Protective Services Superintendent during his absence.
• Attend meetings and interact with SGO Management in order to maintain operational needs.
• Coordinate security operations or activities with friendly forces (Gendarmes & communities)
• Proactively Monitor and keep updates all protective services documents such as Training matrixes, SOPs, weekly guard posts inspection, GSS audit report, weekly gendarmes meeting minutes, visible leadership walk around, weekly toolbox meeting and equipment’s inventory.
• Proactively conduct field visit to positively interact and give required support to all site service providers.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Completion of high school education
• 5+ years mine security experience at a supervisory level within a mining or gold processing environment. Experience with access control and CCTV monitoring systems
• Demonstrated supervisory/leadership experience is required
• Military training/experience is required; experience handling weapons
• Working knowledge of appropriate software programs that will facilitate the reporting and control aspects of the project (Word, Excel, Project, Pronto, Access)
