About Teach For Senegal:
At Teach For Senegal (TFS), we believe that every child in Senegal regardless of their socio-economic background deserves an opportunity for an excellent education. Our mission is to enlist, develop, and mobilize as many of our nation’s future leaders to collectively will work to end educational inequity in our country. We recruit, train and place top university graduates and young professionals in high need primary schools across Senegal to serve as full-time teachers committed to transforming the education outcomes of less-privileged children through significantly improving their achievements and aspirations in a 2-year teaching fellowship.
Through the highly selective, highly rigorous Fellowship, participants (Fellows) develop critical knowledge and first-hand understanding of the education system in Senegal and the challenges it faces. With intensive training and support from TFS, Fellows help transform the lives of their students while enhancing their own leadership skills. As Alumni of the program (and, over time, their students) will become the next generation of Senegalese leaders in education, business, non-profits, medicine, law, government, journalism and other fields. Informed by their experience, they will work from inside and outside the education system to affect the fundamental changes necessary to ensure quality and equitable education for all children.
Job description: The executive assistant will assist the CEO in day to day operations of TFS, engagement with placement schools, students, donors, volunteers, and partners. We are looking for an executive assistant who is creative, a self-starter, adaptable, a problem solver and enjoys working with local communities and children. We are a growing company with a need for an executive assistant with a growth mindset!
Responsibilities
- Preparing financial statements, reports, memos, invoices, letters, and other documents. – Answering phone calls, emails, and requests via our website (in coordination with our social media intern).
- Communicate with volunteers, members, donors, and partners on a specified schedule.
- Handling basic bookkeeping tasks.
- Filing and retrieving records, documents, and reports.
- Researching and conducting data to support the preparation of documents for review and presentation by boards of directors, committees, and executives.
- Helping prepare for meetings.
- Accurately recording minutes from meetings.
- Using various software, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
- Reading and analyzing incoming requests, partnerships, and resources. – Performing office duties that include ordering supplies and managing a records database.
- Opening, sorting and distributing incoming faxes, emails, and other correspondence.
- Provide general administrative support.
- Support CEO with onboarding
- Develop and implement team culture, practices, and policies in collaboration with CEO
- Manage internal documents and communication systems
- Special projects as identified in conjunction with specific expertise
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong belief in TFS’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Fluent in French and one local language ( Wolof, Pulaar, or Sere)
- Speak intermediate English ( B1) and have to desire to want to improve
- Must be a Senegalese national
- Ability to work strategically and collaboratively
- Effective, versatile and action-oriented
- Strategic thinker, data-driven and analytical in approach to solving problems
- Excellent communication skills; strong written and verbal communication; listens well and can easily learn to communicate in someone else’s “written voice”

Compensation:
Salary is competitive and depends on prior experience.
