Tdh :

Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the leading Swiss organisation for children’s aid. Since 1960, Tdh has helped build a better future for deprived children and their communities, making an impact with innovative and sustainable solutions. Active in more than 45 countries, Tdh works with local and international partners to develop and implement field projects which improve the daily lives of over 3 million children and their relatives, in the domains of health, protection and emergency relief. This engagement is financed by individual and institutional support, with administrative costs kept to a minimum.

Context :

Violent events in Rakhine State of Myanmar, starting in August 2017, led to the displacement of 687,000 new arrivals. The mass and speed of the displacement created an acute humanitarian crisis. People arrived with very little belongings. They have used the majority of their savings on transportation and construction of shelter, mostly out of no more than bamboo and thin plastic.

The massive new arrivals are adding huge pressure in the existing camps and host communities in Kutupalong Balukhali and Teknaf. According to ISCG situation report of April 12th, 2018, in Teknaf there are currently 106,475 refugees who are highly vulnerable, having fled conflict and experienced severe traumas, and now living in extremely difficult conditions.

Tdh conducted a multi-sectorial assessment in Teknaf in May, focusing on the camps and host communities which underlined life-saving needs within the camps in these areas and additional support required in the surrounding host communities. As a consequence, Tdh plans to open a new base in Teknaf to provide basic services in the area.

The incumbent will conduct his or her duties in respect of the Charter of Terre des hommes and Tdh Child Protection Policy.

Tdh expects that its contractors’ professional conduct reflect proper behaviour in accordance with local culture and traditions. The incumbent assures the moral protection of the name of Terre des hommes and defends in all circumstances the interests of the movement.
