Tasmanian Government’s 2020 Improving the Playing Field Grants

The Tasmanian Government is inviting applications for 2020 Improving the Playing Field Grants Program.

1000 new grants and donors
Improving the Playing Field offers financial assistance to upgrade amenities at sporting facilities around Tasmania, allowing them to cater to all participants. There is $10 million available to be distributed across small and large grants round, with $5 million allocated each year in 2020-21 and in 2021-22.

Higher priority may be given to projects where there is a funding contribution from the sport and other relevant organizations in the community.

Applicants can apply for funding of between $25 000 and $250 000 per project.
The Tasmanian Government’s Grants Program will provide funding through two streams, small and large grants.
Grants of $25 000 up to $50 000 will be provided through the small grants stream.
Grants between $50 001 and $250 000 will be provided through the large grants stream.
Eligibility Criteria

Local councils and sporting organizations are eligible for funding under this Tasmanian Government’s Grants Program. Sporting organizations will need to demonstrate the priority of their project to their relevant State sporting organization and local government.
Applicants must be:
Incorporated, not-for-profit organizations;
Local government authorities (councils); or
Not-for-profit companies registered under company law
Ineligibility Criteria

The following organizations are ineligible for funding under this Tasmanian Government’s program:

Deadline Free Grants
Educational institutions, including parents and friends’ associations,
Private or commercial enterprises registered under company law and State and Australian Government organizations are not eligible to apply for funding under this program
Organizations with overdue reporting obligations from a previous CSR grant are not eligible to apply for funding under this program. If an organization has received a CSR grant for a project that has not yet been completed, it is eligible to apply for funding for a different project.
Project Eligibility

Projects must develop or improve functional and inclusive amenities and could include (but are not limited to) change rooms, toilets and shower facilities, accessibility, lighting, security, fencing, scoreboards, drainage, and other civil construction works.
Projects must demonstrate support from the relevant facility owner and/or SSO.
The following project types are ineligible for funding under the Program:
Projects or project stages that commence prior to applying
Projects expected to be completed after project completion date listed for the funding round
Equipment purchases
Routine or cyclical replacement or maintenance works to existing facilities
Projects in facilities used for commercial operations licensed bar areas and/or gaming machines
Works external to the project or site including electrical, water, IT and drainage (note, necessary connections with mains is considered eligible)
Event costs
Wages, salaries or other costs for people employed by the applicant
Projects that do not have landowner support
Projects that upgrade infrastructure for activities that are considered to be arts, hobbies, craft, music, historical re-enactments, events, pets or livestock, or do not have a primary purpose of engaging human activity.
