Swadhin Yatre recrute 01 Teaching in Primary School and Boarding School – Darjeeling Region, India
The Franco-Indian NGO Swadhin Yatra offers volunteer missions to teach children in our primary school alongside local teachers in Kolakham, located in the Darjeeling region of the Himalayas in northeastern India. The environment is peaceful, safe, and surrounded by the Himalayan mountains.
Possible activities during your volunteer mission at the school include:
- Participating in English teaching activities with students from kindergarten to 4th grade alongside the teachers, from Monday to Friday
- Helping children with their homework at the boarding school after classes
- Taking part in boarding school activities: cooking, organizing educational games for the children, assisting the two managers with daily tasks, etc.
You may also contribute to and participate in the NGO’s communication activities in collaboration with the NGO’s board members.
Regarding the period and duration of a volunteer mission at the school, a minimum stay of one month is required so that both the children and the volunteer can settle in properly. The school year runs from mid-February to mid-December, and we welcome volunteers throughout this period, except during school holidays from mid-July to mid-August.
Required qualities:
Good ability to adapt to local life and pace, interpersonal skills, teamwork, ability to build and maintain trusting relationships, minimum B1 level in English and basic computer skills; open-mindedness, tolerance, patience, and organizational skills.

Expériences / Formation
Be able to communicate in English, both written and spoken (as education at the school is conducted in English), although fluency is not required. Minimum B1 level.
Have the skills and abilities to work with children and within a different cultural environment: interpersonal skills, adaptability, open-mindedness, tolerance, observation, patience, kindness, and organizational skills.
