SRCI Call for Proposals: Training in Social and Cultural History of Afghanistan

SRCI Call for Proposals: Training in Social and Cultural History of Afghanistan

Deadline: 8 January 2019

The Silk Road Cultural Initiative (SRCI) has announced a Call for Proposals towards the provision of a course, seminar, or workshop in social and cultural history.

Due to decades of conflict and domestic unrest, Afghanistan has come to be known best both internally and abroad through its political history of invasion, occupation, war, and conflict. However, the lived experiences of Afghans throughout these decades have largely been unheard, undocumented, and misunderstood.

Through this Call for Proposals, SRCI seeks to provide training in Social and Cultural History so that Afghans and eventually the world can know about another history, the people’s history, that is not the dominant, historical, political narrative of war and conflict, but rather the social, economic, artistic, cultural, and intellectual historical narratives that have always lived, and continue to live, in Afghanistan alongside it.
