SOLIDAR: Small Grant Facility Call for Proposals 2020

SOLIDAR has launched a Call for Proposals as part of its Organising International Solidarity (OIS) programme, funded by the European Union (EU).

This mechanism aims to reinforce joint advocacy actions by local CSOs, SOLIDAR members and partners focusing on the advancement of Economic and Social Rights, looking particularly to Decent Work, access to Health and Education and Freedom of Association.

Objectives

The fund will support policy advocacy, capacity building and awareness raising regarding decent work and social protection as part of the Agenda 2030.

The fund will:

(Ad) Are you still finding it difficult to search for donors online? Join Premium and use our powerful Donor Search mechanism to find relevant donors based on your country and location or keyword. Reinforce key stakeholders’ capacity to be involved in EU policy-making processes, and the setup of active advocacy and lobby initiatives regarding economic and social rights.
Strengthen partnership among SOLIDAR members, partners and allies in the field (at country, sub-regional and regional levels)
Develop beneficiaries’ capacity to manage EU Grants.
Expected Results

The funded actions are required to contribute to at least one of the following expected results:

SOLIDAR members, their partners and allies in the field (at country and/or sub-regional and/or regional levels) work closely together and enhance coordination;
Communication among SOLIDAR members, their partners and allies in the field is improved in order to strengthen advocacy and awareness raising action;
SOLIDAR network visibility is strengthened through its members and partners in the field, reinforcing the network and supporting the internal development of SOLIDAR members and partners.
Targeted Countries

The proposed actions must take place and be led by organisations active in the following countries:

Sub-Saharan countries: Burkina Faso, Burundi, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Senegal, Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe.
Central America countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua.
Andean Community countries: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru.
Asian countries: Cambodia, China/Hong Kong, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand.

The SGF includes two lots:

(Ad) How to raise funds? Where can I find a list of donors for my area of work? How to write proposals? How can I submit a grant request to USAID, the European Commission or the Gates Foundation? How can I use Social Media to promote my work? We have developed powerful resources in the form of Ebook and Articles covering all this information and more. Learn more.

Lot 1 – Multi-countries/sub-regional: actions that take place in more than one of the above mentioned countries.
Lot 2 – In-country: actions that take place in one of the above mentioned countries.
Funding Information

In 2020, the Small Grant Facility total budget is 90,000 EUR.
Size of the grant:
Lot 1
Minimum amount: 3,400 EUR
Maximum amount: 4,250 EUR
Lot 2
Minimum amount: 5,954 EUR
Maximum amount: 8,500 EUR
Duration of the action

Maximum duration: 5 months.
Minimum duration: 1 month.
The action will have to be implemented by 15 October 2020.
The following activities are eligible for financial support:

Organisation of awareness raising campaigns;
Initiatives focusing on local and/or national and/or subregional and /or regional advocacy issues related to decent work and social protection as part of the Agenda 2030;
Support to CSOs involvement in local/national/regional policy dialogue on decent work and social protection;
Coalition building and networking activities identification and dissemination of results;
Development of case studies for the Economic and social rights country monitoring reports (CMR).
Eligibility Criteria

Only third parties to the OIS programme can apply to the Small Grant Facility. These third parties are neither affiliated entity(ies) nor associates nor contractors.
Only the following entities can apply for financial support: CSOs, social movements, representative and membership-based organisations and (independent) trade unions that fulfil the following organisational selection criteria can apply:
Be recognised as a legal non-profit entity under relevant laws, where such laws exist;
Located and operating within one of the countries above mentioned;
Can prove a clearly defined focus on advocacy;
Have a democratic decision making structure, independent from government.
Each organization can submit one application only as leading applicant for each program’s year. However, an organisation may be part of more than one submission as co-applicant.
Leading applicants must be established in one of the 26 countries mentioned above and be directly responsible for the implementation of the action.
The leading applicant may act with co-applicants.
