The Renewable Energy team currently implements the clean component of the EnDev programme in Mali, focused on sector development of the clean cooking sector in Mali. Several other projects are in the pipeline.
In order to support the renewable energy team at SNV Mali we are looking for a senior consultant with expertise in the renewable energy sector.
Job Description
Overview of positionA senior energy consultant with international expertise to conduct a scoping mission (market scan), with the aim to gather Energy intel/research respectively and identify solid Renewable Energy perspectives. The consultant will respond to the Country Director of SNV Mali. The key responsibilities are :
Business Development:· Market scan and scoping of renewable energy opportunities (funding opportunities)
· Supporting the team in writing concept notes and project proposals on renewable energy or with a renewable energy component (12 days)
· Identifying opportunities to integrate Renewable Energy solutions in our current agriculture project portfolio (3 days)
Project implementation:· Supporting the team in the implementation of our current project in clean cooking sector development MADECC (5 days)
· Eventually the assignment can be extended to supporting the team in the inception phase of biodigester market development projects (subject to funding)
Deliverables· A Business Outlook report on (solid) renewable energy opportunities in Mali
· Contribution to EU Team Europe Initiative Concept Note
Qualifications· University degree in Renewable Energy, International Development Economics or any other relevant subject
· At least 10 years of experience in the renewable energy sector
· Knowledge of biodigester technology;
· Work experience in as well private sector and NGO sector is a plus
· Minimum of 5 years working experience in the Sahel region
· Working experience in an international environment and/or in emerging markets is a plus.
· Proven experience in business management and/or coaching of entrepreneurs;
· Experience in gender issues;
· Knowledge of the RE sector in Mali
· Knowledge of the donor landscape in Mali
· Proven capacities in proposal writing
· Excellent language skills in English and French
· Being pro-active and solution oriented
Additional InformationTerms of appointment: 30 – 40 working days consultancy contract
Duration: 4 months part-time – October to January 2022
Remuneration: Payment will be based on an agreed daily fee, all other costs (travel, materials, etc..) will be reimbursed following SNV procedures
