Objectives
The objective of the Small Grants Scheme is to help selected CSOs/BAs implement projects to support local economic development in municipalities located in Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Guria, Imereti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Kvemo Kartli. The Small Grants Scheme has been designed to empower CSOs/BAs to make contribution in tackling poverty, inequality and economic disadvantages and to provide support to the communities to recover from the economic and social distress caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The specific objective of this call for small projects in the frame of the Small Grants Scheme of the FRLD 2 and DGG projects is to provide support to the communities to recover from the economic and social distress caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit proposals built on innovative ideas for greater engagement of youth and women, ethnic minorities and vulnerable or/ and excluded (marginalized) groups of society, including IDPs, PwDs, etc.

In Kvemo Kartli, preference will be given to initiatives involving cross-border cooperation (CBC) and experience sharing of good practices in responding to socio-economic impact of COVID. Innovative solutions enabling CBC in the given epidemiological situation are highly encouraged.

Maximum amount allocated for each grant is up to USD 30,000.

To be eligible for this call, an applicant must:
Be a non-profit organization (civil society organization, think tank, business association)
Have at least two years of proven experience in project management, private sector engagement, LED facilitation, policy analysis, workforce development, service delivery and/or similar field
Have worked in target regions/municipalities
Have experience of managing projects with similar budget size within the last two years
Be registered in accordance with the legal requirements of the Government of Georgia and provide organization’s registration certificate, statute along with the debt certificate
Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals as coalitions with other organisations such as Business Associations, business consultancy firms, local self-governments (LSGs) and/ or not-for-profit enterprises to propose projects that stimulate local economic development, income generation and job creation in Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Guria, Imereti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Kvemo Kartli regions.

Initiatives that feed to the fulfilment of the following objectives will be considered:
Sensitize and encourage MSMEs to understand and adopt their practices to new national as well as international regulations related to the prevention of COVID-19 (for example: introducing e-commerce tools, new protocols established by the World Travel and Tourism Council, Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) etc.)
Support business (MSMEs) practices on responding to emerging challenges on financial, operational and managerial level in the post-COVID-19 era and beyond
Encourage repurposing of the production and equipment of MSMEs to help them sustain the pandemic distress, stay operational, and preserve jobs for their employees during and in the aftermath of the crisis
Help local businesses and industries (including tourism) to grow and/or diversify, attracting new investment and new job creation
Contribute to women’s economic empowerment and support women entrepreneurs in development of new or already existing businesses; provide them with the relevant resources to increase knowledge and access to finance
Build up innovative or traditional skills, improved technologies, advanced processes, market intelligence and new models of public-private cooperation, to gradually shift to innovative industries
Strengthen collaboration among public, private and civil sector in search for sustainable solutions for local economic development
Strengthen supply chain efficiencies and linkages among the LED actors
Support to increasing the access to supply chain for the MSMEs in the regions of Georgia
Support building capacity and networks among farmers/MSMEs with the focus on access to finances
Strengthen workforce skills and capabilities with the focus on future local economic development needs through the development of non-technical skills such as business management, risk management, strategic planning and leadership in order to support resilience and adaptive management capability
Integrate new technology and/or processes for improved capability, productivity and scalability of MSMEs
Promote innovative and sustainable agriculture practices among farmers aimed at increasing productivity in the field
Supporting small farmers’ production by providing sector specific technical assistance in poultry, livestock, veterinary and etc. in case of desperate need of such assistance. In addition ensure that sustainability and efficiency is factored-in profoundly through the grant proposal.
Deliver outcomes focused on youth, women, ethnic minorities, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable, marginalized (excluded) groups of communities.
