U.S. Embassy Botswana: Seeking Applications for 2019-20 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program Competition

The U.S. Embassy, Botswana is seeking applications for its 2019-20 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program competition, which is a flagship of the Fulbright program funded by the U.S. Department of States.
The Program sends accomplished young and mid-career professionals with demonstrated leadership potential to the United States for a year of non-degree graduate-level study, leadership development, and substantive professional collaboration with U.S. counterparts.
By providing future leaders and policy makers with experience in U.S. society, culture, and professional fields, the program provides a basis for lasting, productive ties between Americans and professional counterparts back home.
Fellowship Provisions:
- Payment of tuition and fees at the assigned host university; Pre-academic English language training, if required;
- A maintenance (living) allowance, including a one-time settling-in allowance;
- Accident and sickness coverage;
- A book allowance;
- A one-time computer subsidy;
- Air travel (international round-air economy travel to and from the U.S. for the Program and domestic travel to required program events);
- A Professional Development allowance for professional activities, such as field trips, professional visits and conferences.
Eligibility Criteria
- An undergraduate (first university or Bachelor’s) degree;
- A minimum of five years of full-time, professional experience;
- Limited or no prior experience in the United States;
- Demonstrated leadership qualities;
- A record of public service in the community;
- English language proficiency;
- A demonstrated role in the policy aspect of the field of specialization;
- A written indication from the employer to approve leave of absence allowing selectees to participate in the program.
