Health Cluster Co-lead – Sudan Country Office
ROLE PURPOSE
Health Cluster Co-lead will be deployed to the health cluster towork in coordination with ministry of health and is expected to take thefollowing roles:
The overall purpose of the health cluster is to Provide healthleadership in emergency and crisis preparedness, response and recovery; Preventand reduce emergency-related morbidity and mortality; Ensure evidence-basedactions, gap filling and sound coordination; and Enhance accountability,predictability and effectiveness of humanitarian health actions.
The Health Cluster Co-lead will contribute for the fulfilment ofthe Health Clusters purposes, which are to provide substantial assistance inthe implementation of inclusive, field-level humanitarian coordinationmechanisms, including liaison with relevant UN operational agencies, NGOs, andlocal authorities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Degree in medicine and / in PublicHealth professional with extensive experiences of humanitarian response andcoordination mechanism for 5-6 years, of which at least 3 in managing andcoordinating health programme in chronic, acute and sudden-onset emergencies.
Excellent communication skillsincluding the ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and projectreports
Proven experience in designing evidencebased health programming, preparing successful funding proposals forhumanitarian and development donors.
Politically and culturally sensitivewith qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
The capacity and willingness to beflexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure workingcircumstances.
Strong analytical and conceptual skillsand the ability to think and plan strategically, challenge existing mind sets.
Strong skills and experience in allaspects of cluster management, planning, monitoring, review & evaluation.
Experience of solving complex issuesthrough analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in
Ability to present complex informationin a succinct and compelling manner
Fluency in English, both verbal andwritten, required
Commitment to the aims and principlesof humanitarian coordination.
Familiar with the Sudan health systemand context, as well as working and living experiences in Sudan
Desirable
Leading or co-leading health cluster inSudan or other African countries.

Additionaljob responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities as setout above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry outadditional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills andexperience.
Contract length: 9 months with possibility of extension subject tofunding.
