Field Manager
ROLEPURPOSE
The Field Manager will provide leadership and management oversightof Save the Children’s programme in one of field offices in South Sudan.  The post holder will ensure effectivemanagement of programs, resources, staff and support functions in the field sitesand will firmly institute finance, human resources and operations systems.  The Field Manager will actively contribute tothe country strategy according to prevailing needs, identify new opportunitiesfor programming, and will ensure field level participation in programme andproposal design.  They will also supportthe capacity development of staff in the field bases.  The Field Manager will be an effectiverepresentative of Save the Children to local authorities, communities, INGOsand NGOS, and other stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous first phase emergency responseexperience is essential.
Education to degree level andMSc/MA/MEng level is advantage in a relevant subject or equivalent fieldexperience.
Previous experience of managing a team.
 SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Essential
At least 3 years/substantial experienceworking in management with a humanitarian/ development organisation
Skills and experience inproject/programme implementation, monitoring, review and evaluation includingbudget holding responsibilities
Substantial people and programme managementexperience with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at alllevels
Substantial experience in officemanagement with a good understanding of logistics, HR and finance procedures
Solid experience in grant management,including budget holding and donor reporting
Substantial understanding or provenexperience of security management issues
Representational, political awarenessand advocacy skills
Experience of working with partners anda participatory approach
Able to work to tight deadlines withminimal supervision
Fluency in written and spoken Englishand computer literate
Commitment to and understanding of Savethe Children’s aims, values and principles.
Desirable
Having worked in a context similar toSouth Sudan

Contract length: One year
