Role Purpose: The Area Programme  Manager  (APM)  is a member of the National Senior Management Team (SMT) responsible to provide effective management oversight of the implementation of Save the Children’s programme  in Greator Darfur covering  North Darfur, Central Darfur and West Darfur states through direct and partner led activities.  The post holder will firmly manage finance, human resources and operations systems in the area of operation and will ensure effective representation of Save the Children to local authorities, INGOs and NGOS, and in other forums.
Contract Duration: 12 months
Location: Greator Darfur
A Master degree in Social Science and/or equevelant – with extensive experience in management.
At least 15 years of experience in leading and managing overall project/program at similar role or senior managerial portfolio at international agencies including 5 years’ experience working at field level.
Substantial people and programme management experience with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
Representational, political awareness and advocacy skills.
Solid experience, at least 2 years in grant management, including budget holding and donor reporting.
Ability to work with limited supervision from line manager.
Experience of working with partners and a participatory approach.
Oroven skills in people management and team building skill
Field level representation with key stakeholders and co-ordination with other NGOs/UN
Ability to generate and promote ownership among team members
Problem Solving skill
Excellent communication skills
Strong influencing skills and experience in advocacy
Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
A high level of written and spoken English
Area Manager experience
UN agency, ECHO, and/or OFDA, Sida, programme management experience
Willingness to learn and share information
Ability to work under pressure and in a team.
Good computer skills in MS packages (Computer Applications; word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
