RWJF: Conducting Evaluations of Healthy Children, Healthy Weight Programs

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is seeking proposals for its Conducting Evaluations of Healthy Children, Healthy Weight Programs to improve the health and well-being of all in America.
Evaluations could assess a wide range of evaluation questions, including (but not limited to):
- To what extent does a program/grant (e.g., its strategy, tactics, outcomes) align with that of the Foundation’s broader Healthy Children, Healthy Weight focus area?
- What are the major strengths and areas of improvement for a specific program/grant as they relate to goals/priorities in the Healthy Children, Healthy Weight focus area?
- What has the program/grant or grantee achieved with RWJF’s funding?
- In what way(s) has the program/grant influenced the field?
Award Information
- One contract of up to $2 million will be awarded through this call for qualifications (CFQ).
- The contract is for a funding period of 36 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant organizations must be based in the United States or its territories.
- Awards will be made to organizations, not to individuals.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Proposals will be reviewed by a committee composed of RWJF staff and external experts. Final funding decisions are made by RWJF staff. An evaluation organization will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Experience working with foundations
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to RWJF priorities
- Ability to be nimble, flexible, responsive, and innovative in approaches to evaluation
- Depth of staff expertise in qualitative and quantitative methods and across various types of evaluations
- Substantive expertise in the full range of topics related to the Foundation’s programming in the
- Healthy Children, Healthy Weight focus area
- Experience partnering with organizations in the evaluation process (i.e., working closely with the organizations being evaluated)
- Ability to convene an evaluation team with the appropriate skill set quickly that can work with grantees who could be based in locations around the country
- Ability to clearly communicate take-home messages around the findings, without jargon
