Position: Resource Acquisition Manager
Localization: Niamey
Purpose of the position:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the quality of large proposal packages ensuring they are responsive to donor requirements, technically robust, current and innovative. You will be instrumental in the office’s efforts at acquiring large grants funding, building partnerships with local organisations, Foundations and corporates as well as building the capacity of sector/project staff in the areas of acquisition, proposal writing/design, and project start-up.
You must have an excellent understanding of international development, acquired through significant hands on experience of programme management/donor engagement. Comfortable building and nurturing relationships, you must excel at stakeholder management and relish working in a collaborative environment.
Major Responsibilities:
Resource Acquisition and proposal development
-Serve as a lead on large grant proposals, as needed, contributing both technical and non-technical content, integrating inputs into a responsive, coherent proposal with a compelling vision and clear win themes
-Coordinate proposal development processes to ensure timely submission of high quality proposals that are responsive to donor requirements, applicable regulations, and WVN’s technical and cost standards. Lead and support proposal budget processes and propose recommendations to develop a competitive proposal
Responsibility for start-up activities, including the effective and timely recruitment & training of project staff
Relationship & Knowledge Management:
-Represents WVN in external/cluster meetings with the UN agencies, institutional donor meetings and local partners – write and disseminates useful minutes, application of KM tools to ensure knowledge shared.
-Carries out due diligence of potential local partners and compiles capacity building plans, draft agreements etc.
-Positions for specific opportunities with foundations, corporations and creates and monitors effective Engagement Plans.
Capacity Building
-Train and mentor WV staff to improve their skills in proposal development, representation to donor and partner organizations, intelligence-gathering, and marketing within their AP portfolio.
-Share relevant RAM updates, grant trends with the wider team/office.
-Other Responsibilities
-Carry out roles and responsibilities according to WV mission, vision and core values
-Active participation in office corporate events
-Manage RAM Intern
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
-Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as development studies or project management plus strong sectorial expertise, in gender studies, economics or governance.
-Strong spoken and written English and French; ability to write concisely and persuasively.
-Experience in full cycle business development process including pipeline development and proposal management.
-Excellent interpersonal communication skills; strong team player.
-Ability to establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment, and meet deadlines with specific attention to detail and quality.
-Enthusiastic, results driven team player.
-Ability to mentor others and create a collaborative environment.
-Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of other design programs/marketing experience to support visual graphics & knowledge management.
