Practical Action has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Energy Advisor to join their West Africa team in Dakar, Senegal. Reporting to the West Africa Senior Energy Advisor, you will be responsible for providing support to the delivery of Practical Action’s energy access consulting and advisory work in the region. For the first 9 months the job holder will be mostly supporting the delivery of a new project working closely with NGOs, private sector and communities to trial renewable energy technology and innovative business models in different agriculture value chains in Senegal.

In addition, you will support the West Africa energy team in the development of new work in the region, in carrying out research and consultancy work, providing technical inputs, and in facilitating collaboration with Practical Action’s other regional offices . As a member of the Practical Action global energy team the role will contribute to development of PA’s energy thematic work worldwide.

To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate: some existing knowledge and/or experience in energy access/energy and development; some existing experience of working in a consultancy or related environment on development/delivery; strong interest in energy access/energy and development and a clear willingness to develop and learn; ability to work collaboratively and in a small team environment; willingness and ability to work dynamically and flexibly across a wide range of issues and activities, according to shifting opportunities and directions.
