The Opportunity
The purpose of this position is to support and promote the achievement of country goals in growth, customer satisfaction, grants and program development, and the establishment of an effective working relationship with National Organisations.
DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE
High finance responsibility in project sponsorship; Develops Country wide annual sponsorship communication budget and ensures effective and efficient monitoring of such budget.
The holder of the position supervises Coordinator a direct report at country office and dotted lines to PIIA Sponsorship Officers in country.
Manages and builds the capacity of the country sponsorship department.
Manages the sponsorship caseload in line with existing policies and guidelines stipulated in the child sponsorship manual.
Custodian of the 10 child sponsorship commitments, especially commitments 2, 3, 6-10.
Custodian of all sponsorship communication documents.
Member of Country Management Team and participates in strategic discussions and reflections within the CO.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Manages country sponsorship activities in a prudent manner.
Perform sponsorship strategic and tactical planning to bring in innovation and best practice in country
Manage the country caseload (new and existing quota) in collaboration with the Program Units’ Managers or Program Impact and Implementation Areas’ Managers and for approval by the Country Director
Make sure that the sponsorship communication activities are in line with the organization’s requirements and Sponsorship Manual guidelines, policies and processes.
Prepare local sponsorship procedures and inform, share and update staff concerned on global sponsorship policies, processes and procedures.
Comply with Plan International’s child protection policy and ensure all sponsorship activities, processes and documents in country are in line with Plan International’s Child protection policy.
Develop contacts with other child sponsorship organizations in country for consensus on areas of operations
Resource Mobilization Strategy for Plan International Mali
Development of quality project proposals and concept notes;
New Business Development & Grant Management
Partnership, Donors and Key Stakeholders Relationship Management
About You
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Qualifications and experience
Master’s degree in social sciences, marketing, statistics or management from a credible institution preferred.
Experience in marketing management or fundraising (e.g. sponsorship).
Experience in project management
Experience in systems management
Excellent working knowledge of English (written and spoken).
Performance Criteria
Evaluation of the sponsorship sections of the national strategy.
Sponsorship quality objectives met
Meeting accountability standards for effectiveness and efficiency in achieving national sponsorship objectives.
Management and development of sponsorship staff.
Recommendations to improve department activities implemented and lessons learned documented.
100% production of all communications
Achieve an 85%+ assignment rate each month, with the highest rate (85%+) at the end of the second quarter of each fiscal year (Stay High).
Ensure sponsorship commitments are met (Stay Green) each month.
Contribute significantly to management meetings
Location: The post holder works on a typical office environment based at Country Office “Bamako” with frequent travel inside Plan Mali PIIAs including emergency areas and outside Mali
Type of role: Fixed term contract of 2 years’ renewable
