This role has a country technical leadership presence within Plan International Mali, working with all of Programme Impact and Influence Areas (PIIAs) in Mali and provides technical support and guidance to media, communication and public relationship for projects and focal points across the country.
The Media, Communication and Public Relations Advisor reports to the Country Director.
Supports the implementation of Plan’s global strategy and commitment to Communication strategyLeads the development and implementation of strategy, policy on communication and media.Position Plan International as a strong track record and recognized technical expert leader on child rights, gender equality and girls-focused programming in Mali.Provides country thematic oversight to Girls Get Equal and spearheads national programming and influencing projects on girls’ rights.Position Plan International Mali through strategic partnering and a strong relationship with media as a child rights, girl focused organization, and there is increased recognition of its brandEqually important will be raising awareness of humanitarian crises affecting children in the North and Central Mali in Timbuctu, Gao, Mopti and Segou.Supports other technical specialists for developing standards and methodologies for media and communication initiatives.Undertake, coordinate, and manage the design and implementation of Plan International Mali media, internal and external communications activities, including but not limited to producing briefing papers around Girls Get Equal, Girls in Crisis, SRHR, Protection from Violence, SOYEE, IQE and ECD.Technical responsibility: writing, editing, communication, quality control and campaignSupports resources mobilization through communication events and campaign initiatives.   Media, Communication and Public Relations Advisor will be a member of Extended Country Leadership Team (E-CLT) and will supervise the Communication Assistan Skills:– Excellent writing, editing skills – fluent in English and/or French- Ability to meet tight deadlines and budgets- Ability to prioritize issues based on an adequate reading of the local reality- Strong negotiation, facilitation and influencing skills- Ability to « put into practice » concepts and strategic thinking- Ability to understand different cultural contexts and marketing/public relations realities- Able to work with children and youth
Behavior:– Be proactive and results-oriented- Strong listening skills- Able to work under pressure and in a multicultural environment
Desirable– University degree in Communication/Journalism or similar;- Solid experience in journalism and reporting;– At least 3 years of experience with international NGOs;- Be fluent in French and English
